Description

Cabgolin 0.25 Tablet is prescribed for the management of hyperprolactinemia, a condition characterized by excessive production of prolactin hormone. Elevated prolactin can lead to various issues, including:

• In Women: Irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, and galactorrhea (unexpected milk production).

• In Men: Reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, and infertility.

Cabgolin 0.25 Tablet is also utilized to suppress lactation in cases of stillbirth, abortion, or miscarriage .

Mechanism of Action

Cabergoline, the active ingredient in Cabgolin 0.25 Tablet, functions as a dopamine D2 receptor agonist. By stimulating dopamine receptors in the pituitary gland, it inhibits the secretion of prolactin, thereby addressing the symptoms associated with its excess .

Dosage & Administration

• Dosage: The initial dose is typically 0.25 mg twice a week, with adjustments made based on patient response and prolactin levels.

• Administration: Can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

• Consistency: It’s advisable to take the medication at the same times each week to maintain consistent blood levels.

 Precautions

• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Not recommended unless prescribed by a doctor, as it can affect hormonal balance and suppress lactation.

• Medical Conditions: Use with caution in patients with liver disease, cardiovascular issues, or a history of psychiatric disorders.
