• Active Ingredient: Acenocoumarol 0.5 mg​

🩺 Mechanism of Action

Acenocoumarol inhibits vitamin K epoxide reductase, leading to decreased synthesis of clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X, thereby reducing blood clot formation.​

🧪 Uses

Acitrom 0.5 mg Tablet is used for:​

• Prevention and treatment of venous thrombosis​

• Management of pulmonary embolism​

• Prevention of embolic events in atrial fibrillation​

• Adjunctive therapy post-coronary occlusion​

⚠️ Dosage

• Initial Dose: 4–12 mg on Day 1​

• Day 2 Dose: 4–8 mg​

• Maintenance Dose: 1–8 mg daily, adjusted based on INR levels​

Common side effects include:​

• Bleeding (e.g., gastrointestinal, urinary tract, cerebral)​

• Nausea and vomiting​

• Loss of appetite​

• Liver enzyme abnormalities​

• Alopecia​
