Description

Composition:

  • Cefuroxime (250 mg): A second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death.

  • Clavulanic Acid (125 mg): A beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefuroxime from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby extending its spectrum of activity.

Mechanism of Action:

Cefuroxime binds to penicillin-binding proteins in bacterial cell walls, disrupting cell wall synthesis and causing cell lysis. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes, preventing the breakdown of cefuroxime and enhancing its efficacy against resistant strains.
