Description

Composition:

• Ampicillin (250 mg)

• Cloxacillin (250 mg)

Mechanism of Action:

Ampicillin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to cell death. Cloxacillin inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes produced by certain bacteria, which can otherwise degrade ampicillin, thus extending its spectrum of activity.

Common Indications:

Ampoxin 500mg Capsule is used to treat various bacterial infections, including:

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Sinusitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis.

• Urinary Tract Infections: Cystitis, pyelonephritis.

• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Cellulitis, abscesses.

• Bone and Joint Infections: Osteomyelitis.

• Dental Infections: Tooth abscesses.

• Ear Infections: Otitis media.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and Children ≥12 years: 1 capsule every 6–8 hours.

• Children (3 months to 12 years): Dosage based on weight; consult a pediatrician.

Take the capsule with a full glass of water. It is recommended to take it on an empty stomach, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals, to ensure optimal absorption and effectiveness. Swallow the capsule whole; do not crush or chew. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Side Effects:

• Nausea

• Dizziness

Serious side effects are rare but may include:

• Severe allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis)
