Description

Coversyl-AM 4/5 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication prescribed when monotherapy is insufficient to control high blood pressure. The two active components work synergistically to manage hypertension:

  • Amlodipine (5 mg): A calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ions from entering smooth muscle cells in the heart and blood vessels, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure.

  • Perindopril (4 mg): An ACE inhibitor that blocks the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, preventing vasoconstriction and promoting blood vessel relaxation.

This combination not only lowers blood pressure but also enhances exercise tolerance and reduces the risk of cardiovascular events. It is typically taken once daily, preferably before a meal, and should be continued even if blood pressure appears normal to maintain long-term cardiovascular health.

Key Information:

  • Dosage: One tablet daily, preferably taken in the morning before a meal.

  • Storage: Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture.

  • Contraindications: Not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it may harm the unborn baby. Also contraindicated in breastfeeding mothers unless prescribed by a doctor.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, ankle swelling, cough, and elevated potassium levels. Serious side effects like angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, or throat) may occur; seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms appear.

  • Precautions: Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels is advised during treatment. Avoid potassium-rich foods or supplements unless directed by a healthcare provider.
