Description

Betnovate S Ointment is a prescription-only topical medication manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It combines two active ingredients:

• Betamethasone (0.1%): A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and itching by suppressing the immune response.

• Salicylic Acid (3%): A keratolytic agent that softens and removes the outer layer of dead skin cells, enhancing the absorption of Betamethasone and reducing scaling.

Uses:

Betnovate S Ointment is prescribed for:

• Steroid-responsive inflammatory skin conditions complicated by scaling, such as eczema and psoriasis.

Dosage and Application:

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, as directed by your healthcare provider.

• Ensure the skin is clean and dry before application.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, or mucous membranes.

• Wash hands thoroughly after application, unless the hands are the treated area.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Burning, irritation, itching, or redness at the application site.

• Skin rash.

Less common side effects may include:

• Skin thinning or stretch marks.

• Changes in skin color.

• Increased hair growth.

• Appearance of blood vessels under the skin.
