Description

Clavam BID Dry Syrup is a pediatric antibiotic formulation containing Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid. It comes as a powder that is reconstituted with water to form a suspension. Amoxicillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic, works by killing bacteria, while Clavulanic Acid inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes that make some bacteria resistant to penicillin antibiotics. This combination enhances the antibiotic’s effectiveness against a broad range of bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis), ear (otitis media), throat (tonsillitis, pharyngitis), urinary tract, and skin. The syrup should be shaken well before each use and given with food to reduce the chance of stomach upset. Dosing is based on the child’s weight and the severity of the infection, as prescribed by a pediatrician.
