Description

Cabgolin 0.5 Tablet is prescribed for:

• Hyperprolactinemia: Elevated prolactin levels can lead to symptoms such as irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, and galactorrhea (unexpected milk production) in women, and reduced libido and infertility in men.

• Suppression of Lactation: In cases of stillbirth, miscarriage, or abortion, Cabgolin 0.5 Tablet can be used to halt breast milk production.

Mechanism of Action:

Cabergoline acts as a dopamine D2 receptor agonist. By stimulating dopamine receptors in the pituitary gland, it inhibits the secretion of prolactin, thereby addressing the symptoms associated with its excess.

Dosage & Administration:

• Dosage: Typically, the initial dose is 0.25 mg twice a week, with adjustments made based on patient response and prolactin levels.

• Administration: Can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Precautions:

• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Not recommended unless prescribed by a doctor, as it can affect hormonal balance and suppress lactation.

• Medical Conditions: Use with caution in patients with liver disease, cardiovascular issues, or a history of psychiatric disorders.

• Interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications you’re taking, especially antipsychotics and macrolide antibiotics, as they may interact with Cabgolin 0.5 Tablet.
