Description

Composition:

• Cefuroxime (500 mg): An antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death.

Mechanism of Action:

Cefuroxime binds to penicillin-binding proteins in bacterial cell walls, disrupting cell wall synthesis and causing cell lysis.

Indications:

Cefakind 500 Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis)

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Ear infections (otitis media)

• Throat infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis)

• Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., gonorrhea)

• Bone and joint infections

Dosage and Administration:

• Dosage: Typically, one tablet twice daily (morning and evening), or as prescribed by the healthcare provider.

• Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.

• With or Without Food: Can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with food may reduce the risk of stomach upset.

• Duration: Complete the full course as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Diarrhea

• Abdominal pain

• Headache

Precautions:

• Allergy: Avoid use if allergic to cefuroxime or other cephalosporin antibiotics.

• Liver Disease: Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction; liver function tests may be required during treatment.

• Kidney Disease: Use with caution in patients with renal impairment; dosage adjustments may be necessary.

• Pregnancy: Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy.

• Breastfeeding: Generally considered safe during breastfeeding; however, consult a healthcare provider.
