Acenocoumarol inhibits vitamin K epoxide reductase, leading to a decrease in the synthesis of clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X. This action prevents the formation of harmful blood clots.​

🧪 Uses

Acitrom 2 mg Tablet is prescribed for:​

• Prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism (e.g., DVT, PE)​

• Stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation​

• Management of prosthetic heart valve thrombosis​

• Adjunctive therapy post-myocardial infarction​

⚠️ Dosage and Administration

• Initial Dose: Typically, 4–12 mg on Day 1​

• Day 2 Dose: 4–8 mg​

• Maintenance Dose: 1–8 mg daily, adjusted based on INR levels​​

• Bleeding (e.g., gastrointestinal, urinary tract, cerebral)​
