Description

AFDURA is an extended-release tablet formulated to manage symptoms associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a condition where the prostate gland enlarges, leading to urinary difficulties. This medication combines two active ingredients:

• Alfuzosin (10 mg): An alpha-1 adrenergic blocker that relaxes the smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, improving urine flow.

• Dutasteride (0.5 mg): A 5-alpha reductase inhibitor that decreases the production of DHT, leading to a reduction in prostate size.

Together, these components address both the symptoms and the underlying causes of BPH, reducing the need for surgical intervention and the risk of acute urinary retention.

Dosage and Administration:

• Recommended Dosage: One tablet daily, taken with food.

• Administration: Swallow the tablet whole; do not chew, crush, or break it.

• Consistency: Take the medication at the same time each day to maintain even levels in your bloodstream.

Possible Side Effects:

Common side effects may include dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, decreased libido, breast tenderness or enlargement, and reduced semen volume. These effects are typically mild and may resolve over time. However, if they persist or worsen, consult your healthcare provider.

Precautions:

• Allergy: Avoid use if allergic to alfuzosin, dutasteride, or any other components of the tablet.

• Pregnancy and Women of Childbearing Potential: AFDURA is not intended for use in women. Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should avoid exposure to the medication, as it can cause birth defects.

• Liver and Kidney Function: Use with caution in individuals with liver or kidney impairment; dose adjustments may be necessary.

• Blood Pressure: Monitor for signs of low blood pressure, especially when standing up, as alfuzosin can cause orthostatic hypotension.

• Surgical Considerations: Inform your doctor if you plan to undergo cataract surgery, as AFDURA may affect pupil dilation.
