Description

AFOGLIP M 500MG Tablet is designed to help control blood glucose levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes. It combines two antidiabetic agents:

• Metformin (500 mg): A biguanide that reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.

• Teneligliptin (20 mg): A DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances insulin release and decreases glucagon levels, leading to reduced blood sugar.

Together, these medications provide a synergistic effect to lower both fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels. They are typically prescribed when blood sugar is inadequately controlled with Metformin alone.

Uses:

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Precautions:

• Not recommended for individuals with severe kidney or liver dysfunction, heart failure, or a history of lactic acidosis.

• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption due to increased risk of lactic acidosis.

• Use with caution in patients with vitamin B12 deficiency, as long-term use may reduce B12 absorption.

• Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood sugar levels is advised during treatment.

Dosage and Administration:

• Take the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.

• Preferably take after meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.

• Dosage and duration should be determined by a healthcare provider based on individual needs.

Side Effects:

Common:

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, stomach ache, respiratory infections, weight gain, sweating, palpitations, numbness, and vision problems.

Serious:

• Lactic acidosis (symptoms include muscle cramps, difficulty breathing, fatigue, and abdominal pain).

• Vitamin B12 deficiency (long-term use may interfere with B12 absorption).
