Description

Composition:

• Amlodipine – 2.5 mg

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that works by inhibiting calcium from entering the smooth muscle cells of the heart and blood vessels. This leads to relaxation of the blood vessels, reducing blood pressure, and decreasing the heart’s workload. Amlodipine also helps in preventing angina (chest pain) by improving blood flow to the heart.

Indications:

• Hypertension: Used to treat high blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood.

• Angina: Used to prevent chest pain or angina by improving blood flow to the heart.

• Coronary Artery Disease: Amlodipine can also help manage symptoms associated with coronary artery disease by reducing the heart’s workload.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: The typical starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily, which can be increased depending on the individual’s response and doctor’s recommendation. The usual dose range is 2.5 mg to 10 mg per day.
