Description

Composition:

• Amlodipine – 5 mg

• Metformin – 500 mg

Mechanism of Action:

• Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by blocking the entry of calcium into the smooth muscles of the heart and blood vessels, causing them to relax and dilate. This lowers blood pressure and eases the heart’s workload.

• Metformin is an oral hypoglycemic agent. It works by:

  • Reducing glucose production in the liver.

  • Increasing insulin sensitivity, allowing the body’s cells to use glucose more effectively.

  • Enhancing glucose uptake in peripheral tissues.

Together, Amlodipine helps with blood pressure regulation, and Metformin helps control blood sugar levels, especially for individuals with both hypertension and type 2 diabetes.

Indications:
