Aricep 10 mg Tablet is a prescription medication used to manage symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, particularly in patients with mild to moderate dementia. It works by increasing acetylcholine levels in the brain, thereby improving memory and cognitive function.
Description
Aricep is primarily prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of dementia associated with Alzheimer’s disease. It does not cure Alzheimer’s but may help in improving cognitive function and slowing disease progression.
Mechanism of Action:
Donepezil, the active ingredient in Aricep, is a cholinesterase inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine—a neurotransmitter involved in memory and learning. By preventing acetylcholine breakdown, Aricep increases its availability in the brain, enhancing communication between nerve cells.
