Description

Composition:

• Rosuvastatin (10 mg): An HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.

• Fenofibrate (135 mg): A fibric acid derivative that primarily reduces triglyceride levels and modestly increases HDL cholesterol.

Mechanism of Action:

• Rosuvastatin: Inhibits the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is involved in the production of cholesterol in the liver, leading to decreased cholesterol levels.

• Fenofibrate: Activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), enhancing the breakdown of triglycerides and increasing HDL cholesterol levels.

Indications:

• Management of combined hyperlipidemia (elevated levels of both cholesterol and triglycerides).

• Reduction of cardiovascular risk in patients with elevated lipid levels.

Dosage:

• Typically, one capsule daily, preferably with food.

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water; do not chew or crush.

• Follow the dosage and duration as prescribed by your healthcare provider.

 Side Effects

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Headache

• Abdominal pain

• Muscle pain or weakness

• Fatigue

Serious Side Effects:

• Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness (may indicate muscle breakdown)

• Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)

• Dark-colored urine

• Persistent abdominal pain (may indicate pancreatitis)

Note: Most side effects are mild and may resolve with continued use. However, consult your doctor if any side effects persist or worsen.

 Precautions

• Allergy: Do not use if allergic to Rosuvastatin, Fenofibrate, or any other components of the capsule.

• Liver or Kidney Disease: Use with caution; dosage adjustments may be necessary.

• Muscle Disorders: Inform your doctor if you have a history of muscle disorders, as statins can increase the risk of muscle-related side effects.

• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

• Alcohol Consumption: Limit alcohol intake, as it may increase the risk of liver problems.

• Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, to avoid potential interactions.
