Description

Astymin-3 Injection (200 ml) is a 9% crystalline amino acid solution formulated to provide essential and semi-essential amino acids, glycine, and sorbitol. Each milliliter contains:

• L-Arginine Hydrochloride – 8.0 mg

• L-Histidine Hydrochloride – 4.0 mg

• L-Isoleucine – 5.5 mg

• L-Leucine – 12.3 mg

• L-Lysine Hydrochloride – 22.3 mg

• L-Methionine – 7.1 mg

• L-Phenylalanine – 8.7 mg

• L-Threonine – 5.4 mg

• L-Tryptophan – 1.8 mg

• L-Valine – 6.1 mg

• Glycine – 10.0 mg

• Sorbitol – 50.0 mg

• Water for Injection – q.s.

Each 200 ml bottle provides:

• Nitrogen – 2.6 g

• Protein (High Biological Value) – 16.38 g

• Energy – 105 kcal

• Total Amino Acids – 18.24 g

• Total Essential Amino Acids – 16.24 g

• Sorbitol – 10 g

• pH – Neutral

Indications:

Astymin-3 is indicated for:

• Surgical Conditions: Pre and post-operative states, burns (first and second degree), trauma, fractures, gastrointestinal surgeries, peritonitis, and chronic draining wounds.

• Medical Conditions: Malabsorption syndromes, ulcerative colitis, regional enteritis, small bowel syndrome, and cancer-related cachexia.

• Other Conditions: Stroke, persistent pyrexial states, metabolic disturbances, and renal failure with marginally raised blood nitrogen levels.

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: 200–800 ml intravenously per day, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

• Children: 0.20–0.25 g of nitrogen per kg body weight.

• Drip Rate: Start at 15–20 drops per minute, increasing to 30–40 drops per minute as tolerated.

To meet energy requirements, simultaneous infusion of 5% or 10% dextrose is recommended.

Precautions:

• Monitor for signs of intolerance and renal losses if infusion rate is too rapid.

• Adjust dosage in patients with renal or hepatic impairments.

• Use under medical supervision in pediatric patients.
