Description

ATM 500 mg Tablets contain Azithromycin 500 mg, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic effective against a variety of bacterial pathogens. Azithromycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby preventing the growth and spread of bacteria. It is commonly prescribed for the treatment of:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Pharyngitis and tonsillitis

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Otitis media (ear infections)

• Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., chlamydia)

• Certain gastrointestinal infections (e.g., traveler’s diarrhea caused by bacteria)

ATM 500 mg is typically taken once daily, with dosing regimens often including a single dose or a 3- to 5-day course, depending on the indication. The tablet can be taken with or without food, although taking it with food may reduce stomach upset.

Azithromycin is generally well-tolerated, but as with all antibiotics, it should be used only under medical supervision and the entire prescribed course should be completed to avoid the development of antibiotic resistance.
