AUGMENTIN DDS SYP

Description

Augmentin DDS Syrup is a prescription oral antibiotic designed specifically for pediatric use. It combines two active ingredients:

• Amoxicillin – a penicillin-type antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from forming cell walls.

• Clavulanic Acid – a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents certain bacteria from becoming resistant to amoxicillin.

This dual-action formulation makes it highly effective in treating infections that may not respond to standard antibiotics.

Indications (Common Uses):

Augmentin DDS Syrup is used in children for the treatment of:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections

• Otitis media (middle ear infection)

• Tonsillitis and pharyngitis

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Dental infections

Dosage & Administration:

• Route: Oral suspension

• Dosage: Based on the child’s body weight and age – to be prescribed by a pediatrician

• Frequency: Usually every 8 to 12 hours

• Instructions: Shake well before use and administer with a measuring spoon or syringe. Best taken with food to minimize stomach upset.

Precautions:

• Not for children allergic to penicillin or cephalosporins

• Use cautiously in children with kidney or liver disorders

• Ensure the full course is completed to prevent resistance
