AZTOFA OINTMENT 15GM

Description

Aztofa 2% Ointment (15 gm) is a topical medication containing Tofacitinib 2% w/w, a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor. It is used to manage inflammatory skin conditions and certain types of hair loss.

Indications:

• Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema): Tofacitinib helps reduce inflammation, redness, and itching associated with atopic dermatitis.

• Androgenetic Alopecia (Hair Loss): It promotes hair regrowth by modulating immune responses that contribute to hair loss.

Dosage and Administration:

• Strength: Tofacitinib 2% w/w

• Form: Ointment

• Application: Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider.

Mechanism of Action:

Tofacitinib inhibits Janus kinases (JAKs), enzymes involved in the signaling pathways of various cytokines and growth factors. By blocking these pathways, Tofacitinib reduces the activity of the immune system that causes inflammation in atopic dermatitis and hair loss.

Common Side Effects:

• Application site eczema

• Application site itching

• Fever

Precautions:

• Not recommended for use in patients with active tuberculosis (TB), severe liver disease, or those allergic to Tofacitinib.

• Use with caution in individuals with a history of chronic or recurrent infections, low white blood cell count, or those who have resided in areas endemic to tuberculosis or mycoses.

• Regular monitoring may be required to assess for potential side effects.
