Description

Aztor 80 Tablet contains Atorvastatin, a statin that works by blocking the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for cholesterol production in the liver. This action effectively lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides while increasing HDL (good cholesterol).

Indications:

• Primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol)

• Mixed dyslipidemia (elevated cholesterol and triglycerides)

• Prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk individuals

Dosage & Administration:

• The typical starting dose is 10–20 mg daily, with adjustments based on cholesterol levels and treatment goals.

• The maximum recommended dose is 80 mg per day.

• Aztor 80 Tablet can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Side Effects:

• Common: Nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, muscle pain, joint pain, headache, and fatigue.

• Serious: Unexplained muscle pain or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever or dark-colored urine, which may indicate muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis).

• Liver enzyme abnormalities.

Precautions:

• Not recommended for use in individuals with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in liver enzymes.

• Caution is advised in patients with a history of liver disease, kidney problems, or those who consume large amounts of alcohol.

• Regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended during treatment.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding:

• Aztor 80 Tablet is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential harm to the fetus or infant.

Interactions:

• May interact with other medications, including certain antibiotics, antifungals, and HIV protease inhibitors, increasing the risk of side effects.

• Grapefruit juice may increase the levels of Atorvastatin in the blood, leading to an increased risk of side effects.

Lifestyle Considerations:

• Aztor 80 Tablet should be used in conjunction with a low-fat diet, regular physical activity, and weight management.

• Smoking cessation and moderation of alcohol intake are also recommended to enhance the effectiveness of treatment.
