Description

Composition:

• Glimepiride (1 mg): A sulfonylurea that stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.

• Metformin Hydrochloride (1000 mg): A biguanide that decreases glucose production in the liver and improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin .

Indications:

Azulix 1 MF Forte Tablet is indicated for:

• The treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults

• Helping to control blood sugar levels when diet and exercise alone are insufficient

• Reducing the risk of complications associated with diabetes, such as nerve damage, kidney problems, and eye issues .

Dosage and Administration:

• The dosage should be individualized based on the patient’s blood glucose levels and tolerance.

• Typically, the tablet is taken once daily with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects .

• Do not chew or crush the tablet; swallow it whole with a glass of water.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Nausea

• Headache

• Dizziness

• Stomach discomfort

• Diarrhea

Serious side effects, though rare, can include:

• Lactic acidosis (a build-up of lactic acid in the blood)

• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

• Vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use .

Precautions:

• Alcohol consumption should be limited, as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis and hypoglycemia .
