Description

Composition:

• Glimepiride (1 mg): A sulfonylurea that enhances insulin secretion from the pancreas, thereby reducing blood glucose levels .

Indications:

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults

• Improvement of glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient

• Prevention of diabetes-related complications with regular use .

Dosage and Administration:

• Typically taken once daily with breakfast or the first main meal of the day

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not chew or crush

• Dosage is individualized based on blood glucose levels and response to treatment .

Side Effects:

• Common: Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), nausea, headache, dizziness, weight gain

• Serious (rare): Severe hypoglycemia, allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), liver problems (jaundice, dark urine) .

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver dysfunction

• Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended

• Avoid alcohol consumption, as it may increase the risk of hypoglycemia

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a doctor

• Not suitable for children under 18 years of age .
