Description

Betnovate C Cream is a prescription topical medication manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It combines two active ingredients: Betamethasone (0.1% w/w), a corticosteroid, and Clioquinol (3% w/w), an antimicrobial agent with antifungal properties. This combination is designed to address both the inflammatory and infectious components of certain skin conditions.

Mechanism of Action:

• Betamethasone: As a corticosteroid, Betamethasone works by inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itching associated with skin inflammation.

• Clioquinol: Clioquinol possesses antimicrobial properties, effectively combating both bacterial and fungal infections on the skin. It works by disrupting the cell membranes of microorganisms, leading to their destruction and inhibition of further growth.

Uses:

Betnovate C Cream is prescribed for:

• Reducing redness, swelling, and itching in inflammatory skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

• Treating bacterial and fungal skin infections.

Application Instructions:

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, as directed by your healthcare provider.

• Ensure the skin is clean and dry before application.

• Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, and mucous membranes.

• Wash hands thoroughly after application, unless the hands are the treated area.

Precautions:

• For external use only; do not ingest.

• Avoid prolonged use, especially on the face, to prevent potential side effects.

• Not recommended for use in children under one year of age.
