Description

Brilinta 60mg Tablet is a prescription medication containing Ticagrelor, a P2Y12 platelet inhibitor that reduces the formation of harmful blood clots. It is used in combination with low-dose aspirin to prevent cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes in individuals with certain heart conditions.

Indications:

• Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS):

  • Unstable angina

  • Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)

  • ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)

• History of Myocardial Infarction (MI):

  • To reduce the risk of subsequent heart attacks

• Coronary Artery Disease (CAD):

  • To prevent blood clots in patients undergoing stent placement or other coronary interventions

Mechanism of Action:

Ticagrelor inhibits the P2Y12 receptor on platelets, preventing their activation and aggregation. This action reduces the formation of blood clots, thereby decreasing the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other thrombotic events.

Dosage and Administration:

• Acute Coronary Syndrome or History of Myocardial Infarction:

  • Initiate with a 180 mg loading dose.

  • Continue with 90 mg twice daily for the first year.

  • After one year, reduce to 60 mg twice daily.

• Coronary Artery Disease without Prior Stroke or MI:

  • Administer 60 mg twice daily.

• Acute Ischemic Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA):

  • Initiate with a 180 mg loading dose.

  • Continue with 90 mg twice daily for up to 30 days.

  • Administer with a daily maintenance dose of aspirin (75–100 mg).

Contraindications:

• Active bleeding or bleeding disorders

• History of intracranial hemorrhage

• Severe liver impairment

• Hypersensitivity to Ticagrelor or any component of the product
