Brillo EZ 180mg/10mg Tablet is a prescription medication containing Bempedoic Acid (180 mg) and Ezetimibe (10 mg). It is used to lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and total cholesterol levels in the blood, particularly in patients who are unable to take statins or require additional cholesterol-lowering therapy. The combination works through dual mechanisms: Bempedoic Acid inhibits cholesterol synthesis in the liver, while Ezetimibe reduces cholesterol absorption in the intestines.
Description
Brillo EZ 180mg/10mg Tablet is manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd and combines two active ingredients:
-
Bempedoic Acid (180 mg): Inhibits ATP citrate lyase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This action reduces the production of cholesterol.
-
Ezetimibe (10 mg): Blocks the Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) protein in the small intestine, decreasing the absorption of cholesterol from the diet.
Together, these components effectively lower LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol levels in the blood, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes.
Indications:
-
Primary Hyperlipidemia: As an adjunct to diet, in combination with other LDL-C lowering therapies, or alone when concomitant LDL-C lowering therapy is not possible, to reduce LDL-C in adults with primary hyperlipidemia, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH).
-
Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) Risk Reduction: To reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and coronary revascularization in adults who are unable to take recommended statin therapy, with established cardiovascular disease (CVD), or a high risk for a CVD event but without established CVD.
Dosage and Administration:
-
Recommended Dose: One tablet (Bempedoic Acid 180 mg / Ezetimibe 10 mg) taken orally once daily.
