BRIVEX Eye Drops is a prescription eye medication formulated with a combination of Brinzolamide (1%), a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and Brimonidine (0.2%), an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. It is primarily used to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, both of which can lead to optic nerve damage and vision loss if left untreated.
Brinzolamide works by inhibiting the enzyme carbonic anhydrase in the ciliary body of the eye, reducing aqueous humor production. Brimonidine complements this action by both decreasing aqueous humor production and enhancing its outflow through the uveoscleral pathway.
This dual mechanism results in effective and sustained IOP control. BRIVEX is usually prescribed as part of a long-term treatment plan and is suitable for adults.
