Description

Composition:

• Metformin Hydrochloride (1000 mg): A biguanide antidiabetic agent that improves insulin sensitivity, decreases hepatic glucose production, and reduces intestinal glucose absorption.

Uses:

• Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Helps control blood sugar levels in adults when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.

• Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): May assist in managing insulin resistance associated with PCOS.

Dosage and Administration:

• Dosage: As prescribed by your physician.

• Administration: Take the tablet orally with water, preferably after meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Diarrhea

• Abdominal discomfort

• Loss of appetite

• Metallic taste

Rare but serious side effects:

• Lactic Acidosis: A rare but serious condition characterized by symptoms such as deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and fatigue.

Precautions:

• Kidney Function: Use with caution in patients with impaired kidney function.

• Liver Function: Not recommended for patients with severe liver impairment.

• Alcohol Consumption: Avoid alcohol as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.
