CEFTAS CV 200 Tablet is an oral antibiotic that combines Cefixime 200 mg, a third-generation cephalosporin, with Clavulanic Acid 125 mg, a β-lactamase inhibitor. This combination enhances the activity of Cefixime against resistant bacterial strains by preventing the degradation of the antibiotic.

Mechanism of Action:

  • Cefixime: Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial cell death.

  • Clavulanic Acid: Inhibits β-lactamase enzymes produced by bacteria, protecting Cefixime from degradation and extending its spectrum of activity.

Indications:

  • Respiratory Tract Infections: Bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis

  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

  • Ear Infections: Otitis media

  • Throat Infections: Tonsillitis, pharyngitis

  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections

  • Sexually Transmitted Infections: Uncomplicated gonorrhea

Dosage and Administration:

  • Adults and Adolescents (12 years and older): Typically, 200 mg once or twice daily, depending on the severity of the infection.
