CIPLOX 500MG TABS

Description

CIPLOX 500 mg Tablet, produced by Cipla Ltd., contains Ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone class. It is effective against various bacterial infections by inhibiting the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is essential for bacterial DNA replication.

Indications:

• Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Including cystitis and pyelonephritis.

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Such as pneumonia and bronchitis.

• Gastrointestinal Infections: Including traveler’s diarrhea and typhoid fever.

• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Including cellulitis and wound infections.

• Bone and Joint Infections: Such as osteomyelitis.

Dosage and Administration:

• The typical dosage is 500 mg once or twice daily, depending on the severity and type of infection.

• It can be taken with or without food.

• Avoid taking it with dairy products or antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, as they may interfere with absorption.

Side Effects:

• Common: Nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and abdominal pain.

• Serious: Tendonitis or tendon rupture, especially in older adults; central nervous system effects such as seizures; and hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in individuals with a history of tendon disorders, renal impairment, or seizures.

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.

• Avoid excessive sun exposure due to increased risk of photosensitivity.
