Description

CIPMIDO 2.5 mg Tablet, manufactured by Cipla Ltd., is a medication containing Midodrine Hydrochloride, an alpha-1 adrenergic agonist. It works by stimulating receptors on blood vessels, causing them to constrict, thereby increasing blood pressure.

Indications:

  • Orthostatic Hypotension (also known as postural hypotension): A condition where blood pressure falls significantly upon standing, leading to dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting.

Dosage:

  • Typically, one tablet (2.5 mg) is taken three times a day, with doses spaced at least 3 hours apart.

  • The last dose should be taken at least 4 hours before bedtime to minimize the risk of supine hypertension (increased blood pressure while lying down).

Side Effects:

  • Common:

    • Headache

    • Nausea

    • Flushing

    • Goosebumps

    • Difficulty or pain during urination

    • Increased blood pressure when lying down (supine hypertension)

  • Serious:

    • Chest pain

    • Rapid or irregular heartbeat

    • Blurred vision

    • Shortness of breath

    • Signs of liver problems (e.g., dark urine, jaundice)

Precautions:

  • Use with caution in individuals with heart disease, kidney impairment, liver disease, or thyroid disorders.

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by a doctor.

  • Avoid lying down immediately after taking the medication to prevent supine hypertension.

  • Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advised during treatment.
