Description

Clarinova 250 mg Tablet is an antibiotic medication that contains Clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacterial infections. It is manufactured by Mankind Pharma Ltd and is commonly prescribed for the treatment of:

• Upper and Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: Such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis.

• Ear Infections: Including otitis media.

• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Such as cellulitis and impetigo.

• Helicobacter pylori Eradication: Used in combination therapy for duodenal ulcers caused by H. pylori.

Mechanism of Action:

Clarithromycin works by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting protein synthesis and thereby stopping bacterial growth. This action makes it effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: The usual dose is 250 mg twice daily for 7 days. For more severe infections, the dose may be increased to 500 mg twice daily.

• Combination Therapy for H. pylori: Clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily, in combination with Amoxicillin 1000 mg twice daily and Omeprazole 20 mg twice daily, for 10 days.

• Children: The recommended daily dosage is 15 mg/kg in 2 divided doses for 10 days.

Clarinova 250 mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms improve before finishing the medication.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Diarrhea

• Nausea and vomiting

• Abdominal pain

• Headache

• Altered taste

• Indigestion
