Description

Cloyd A 75mg Tablet combines two potent antiplatelet agents:

  • Aspirin (75 mg): Inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1), reducing the production of thromboxane A2, a substance that promotes platelet aggregation and vasoconstriction.

  • Clopidogrel (75 mg): A P2Y12 receptor antagonist that prevents platelet activation and aggregation by inhibiting the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its platelet receptor.

Together, these medications effectively reduce the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events, especially in individuals with a history of heart disease, stroke, or those undergoing procedures like stent placement.

Uses:

  • Prevention of heart attack and stroke

  • Management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS)

  • Post-procedural care following coronary artery interventions (e.g., stent placement)

  • Reduction of the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular events in patients with peripheral arterial disease

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

  • Indigestion or heartburn

  • Stomach pain or discomfort

  • Diarrhea

  • Easy bruising or bleeding

  • Nosebleeds

Serious side effects, though rare, can include gastrointestinal bleeding, allergic reactions, and liver dysfunction.

Precautions:

  • Allergy: Avoid if allergic to aspirin, clopidogrel, or any component of the tablet.

  • Bleeding Disorders: Contraindicated in individuals with active bleeding conditions (e.g., peptic ulcer, intracranial hemorrhage).

  • Liver/Kidney Impairment: Use with caution; dose adjustments may be necessary.

  • Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless deemed essential by a healthcare provider.

  • Drug Interactions: May interact with other anticoagulants, NSAIDs, proton pump inhibitors, and certain antidepressants.
